The West Sussex Fire Brigade has been associated with the Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze and Silver Award for many years.
What is the Duke of Edinburgh's Award?
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, a registered charity, is a programme of activities for young people between the ages of 14-25 .
The aim of the Award is to provide an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development for young people, which is of the highest quality and the widest reach.
SERVICE SECTION
AIM OF THE SERVICE SECTION
To encourage service to individuals and to the community.
EMERGENCY SERVICES INCLUDE:
Ambulance Service
Assistance with Emergency Service charities
Civil Aid
Coastguard Services
Fire Services
Lifeboat Service
Police Service
Training is provided at most of the 28 Stations throughout the brigade by the operational crews.
Young people are given the opportunity to learn about the West Sussex Fire Brigade, causes of fire and how to react if a fire is discovered. Training also includes practical use of fire brigade equipment.
