The Worthing Cadet Unit celebrated it's first birthday in June 2002 - so what have the cadets achieved since the unit's inception

The cadets have attended a number of functions with some of the highlights being:

Bullet A royal visit by HRH Duchess of Gloucester, making the Worthing unit the first young firefighter unit in the country to have received a royal visit.

Bullet Attendance at the September 11th memorial service held at St. Paul's Cathedral.

Bullet Attendance at brigade events such as station open days and the annual carol concert held at Arundel Cathedral etc.

Bullet Participation in the Freedom of the City of Chichester March celebrating the Queen's Jubilee.

Bullet The Chairman's Civic Reception at Parham House.

May 2002 - the cadets played host to a group of 12 young people from Belarus and during their stay these young people took part in an evening of drills with the cadets.

August 2002 - The week-long National Fire Cadet Camp 2002 was held at Bromsgrove, near Birmingham during which time the cadets participated in a number of activities with other cadet units from around the country, enabling them to acquire a range of valuable new skills and mix with young people from other units.

Activities included watersports, archery, orienteering, bridge building, rock-climbing, abseiling, swimming and volleyball. This year's camp is being organised by West Sussex Fire Brigade and will be held in Dorset.

Many more activities are planned for 2003/4
