Hoax calls to the fire brigade CAN KILL!
Hoax calls to the West Sussex Fire Brigade are now hovering around the 500 mark annually. Although this may not seem excessive it is still around 2 calls per day.
EVENTUALLY ONE OF THESE CALLS WILL COINCIDE WITH A GENUINE CALL THAT MAY COST SOMEONE THEIR LIFE.
Worthing and Crawley have been identified as the towns where, at certain times of the day, one in three calls turn out to be a hoax.
HOAX CALLS put innocent lives at risk and are treated very seriously by the brigade, which has recently introduced new procedures to bring hoax callers to book.
Fire control operators now challenge suspected hoax callers and the brigade's attendance is adjusted accordingly.
All calls to the brigade, whether from a telephone kiosk, private telephone or mobile are recorded and can be traced within seconds.
Whenever hoax callers are identified and apprehended, appropriate action, including prosecution, is taken.
THINK ABOUT YOUR ACTIONS BEFORE YOU MAKE A HOAX CALL
